Meet Betty MacDonald & Neal MacDonald

Meet Betty MacDonald & Neal MacDonald

Neal MacDonald figures there isn't a town or city in BC that he hasn't been to, either on vacation or in a business capacity. That's why he can say with confidence that there is no other place in BC he would want to live. " You can't beat the people here, the cost of living, and the proximity to the outdoors, and all it has to offer," he says, adding that Prince George provides all of best of city living without the long commutes or city traffic.

Neal is the second generation of MacDonalds to be involved in the business. His uncle started the business in 1968, and his parents took it over in 1980. His mother, Betty MacDonald, is still actively involved in the business. Both Neal and Betty are proud of the fact that it has always been a family affair. They believe that this has helped the business to develop its trustworthy reputation within the community.

Having been a part of the downtown business area for so many years, Neal and Betty have seen many changes in the business community. These days, says Neal, things are on an upward swing. "The demographic seems to be shifting in a positive way downtown," he notes. New buildings and renovations of old buildings have given the area a nice facelift. The area is full of character and class, thanks in part to its chic independent restaurants and eclectic cafes. "It seems like every week something new and positive is coming to downtown PG," says Neal. "I am excited for the future."
