Meet Denise Adom & Patience Manso
Denise and her husband Joseph met and fell in love while at a mutual friend’s party in Ottawa. Upon getting to know each other, the pair discovered that they were from the same town in Techiman, Ghana. They had even attended the same school, but never had the chance to meet.
After Joseph moved to Prince George, B.C., the couple got married and Denise joined her husband. Two children later, Denise became enamored with the local scenery and supportive community vibe. “It’s the best place to raise our children,” she says. “We are all one here and I love that I can say hello to anyone I pass."
Denise had spent countless hours and dollars travelling back and forth to other cities for ethnic food products and accessories not readily found outside of metropolis centres. After strenuous market research, she and her husband felt confident in creating their own business featuring African and Caribbean goods. Prince George is growing. The community is diversifying, largely in thanks to the positive affects of the world-renowned post-secondary institutions. “PG is the land of opportunity," beams Denise.
